How Vital-Link Medical Alert Systems Work
The Vital-Link Personal Emergency Response System works in three simple steps to get the customer help in the best possible way. Each of our systems in essence get help for our customers in the same way.
FIRST STEP: Press the button on the pendant or wrist transmitter.
WHAT HAPPENS: When the customer presses the button on their transmitter a signal will be sent to the base console which is placed in the home and attached to a phone line or has cellular technology. The base console then connects to our Monitoring Center. The Monitoring Center is located in the United States (we have three; Ohio, Utah, and Alabama) and is ready to answer your call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
SECOND STEP: An Emergency Response specialist will open up a microphone within the base console and attempt to directly communicate with the customer.
WHAT HAPPENS: Within moments someone from our monitoring center will ask the customer if they are having an emergency and to please respond. If the customer is able to respond, the specialist will follow their instructions. If the customer is unable to respond or we are unable to get a clear response from them the specialist will then follow a predetermined response protocol set up by the customer. This could mean calling family and friends first or it could mean calling Emergency Medical Services first and then calling down a list of responders. You customize this response protocol based on how you want us to respond in the event of an emergency.
THIRD STEP: Help is in route!
Help is now on its way within minutes of pressing the button.
